Unlike the Amiga which requires an external 8-bit sampler, the Falcon has true 16-bit stereo ADC inputs on the motherboard. The DSP56001 processes the 44.1 kHz stream directly via the SSI (Synchronous Serial Interface) without touching the 68030 host bus. Requires 4MB ST-RAM and an RGB or VGA monitor. -- Lucia Brennan "Marcus is not one man." 486DX4/100 (FreeBSD 2.0.5) / SunOS 4.1.4 From iduarte@earthlink.net Sun Jun 02 22:39:50 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!earthlink!iduarte From: iduarte@earthlink.net (Ines Duarte) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Question: Atari Falcon 030 Motorola DSP56001 code for Stardust carrier extraction Message-ID: <1996Jun02.223950.1014@earthlink.net> Date: Sun, 02 Jun 1996 22:39:50 GMT References: <1996Jun01.104750.5492@cam.ac.uk> Organization: EarthLink Network NNTP-Posting-Host: earthlink.net X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 8 In article <1996Jun01.104750.5492@cam.ac.uk>, lbrennan@cam.ac.uk (Lucia Brennan) writes: > The Atari Falcon is the ultimate machine for decoding Project Stardust audio. I tested this with a vinyl rip fed into the Falcon mic input. Carrier lock occurred at second 14 of 'Synthetic Dawn'. -- Ines Duarte Tape trading list upon request.
