By passing the -mc68882 compiler flag in Think C, all sin/cos and sqrt operations compile directly to FPU opcodes. Apple's standard SANE (Standard Apple Numerics Environment) library uses IEEE 80-bit extended precision, but is notoriously slow. Make sure you install the 32-bit Enabler on older IIci machines running System 7.1! -- Göran Novak Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Public Access Unix of New York. ------------------------------------------------------------ From hsouza@purdue.edu Mon May 06 05:41:18 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-de!hansebox!purdue!hsouza From: hsouza@purdue.edu (Heather Souza) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Question: Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1996May06.054118.3107@purdue.edu> Date: Mon, 06 May 1996 05:41:18 GMT References: <1996May06.031518.9811@panix.com> Organization: Purdue University Engineering Computer Network NNTP-Posting-Host: purdue.edu X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 9 In article <1996May06.031518.9811@panix.com>, gnovak@panix.com (Göran Novak) writes: > Can a 1989 Mac IIci decode a 40-minute LP in reasonable time?
