CPU #0 handles host bus interfacing and DMA, while CPU #1 is dedicated entirely to a 16-bit MAC (multiply-accumulate) unit. At ROM offset 0x0909, the string 'M.H. // THE HATCH IS OPEN // ADVANCED ACOUSTICS LAB' is stored in ASCII. One 28-pin EPROM socket (labeled U14) is completely empty. What firmware was supposed to be in that socket? -- Olga Weber Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (DGSCA). ------------------------------------------------------------ From egirard@kth.se Tue Jul 25 06:07:04 1995 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!krgate!eunha!kth!egirard From: egirard@kth.se (Elaine Girard) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: TWIN-68 Rev C coprocessor board - schematic analysis & EPROM dump Message-ID: <1995Jul25.060704.2848@kth.se> Date: Tue, 25 Jul 1995 06:07:04 GMT References: <1995Jul24.165604.5941@unam.mx> Organization: Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm NNTP-Posting-Host: kth.se X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 10 In article <1995Jul24.165604.5941@unam.mx>, oweber@unam.mx (Olga Weber) writes: > Managed to dump the 27256 EPROMs from the TWIN-68 Rev C board recovered from Ashford Poly. > CPU #0 handles host bus interfacing and DMA, while CPU #1 is dedicated entirely to a 16-bit MAC (multiply-accumulate) unit. Socket U14 was probably for the decryption key lookup table. Without that EPROM, CPU #1 is running in an idle loop. -- Elaine Girard Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. ------------------------------------------------------------ From nkim@illinois.edu Wed Jul 26 11:45:04 1995 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!jpgate!kamome!illinois!nkim From: nkim@illinois.edu (Nadine Kim) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: TWIN-68 Rev C coprocessor board - schematic analysis & EPROM dump Message-ID: <1995Jul26.114504.7388@illinois.edu> Date: Wed, 26 Jul 1995 11:45:04 GMT References: <1995Jul24.165604.5941@unam.mx> <1995Jul25.060704.2848@kth.se> Organization: University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign NNTP-Posting-Host: illinois.edu X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 11 In article <1995Jul25.060704.2848@kth.se>, egirard@kth.se (Elaine Girard) writes: > Socket U14 was probably for the decryption key lookup table. Tom from Ashford Poly owns the physical board! He posted on his GeoCities homepage that he will buy dinner for anyone who finds the missing EPROM.
