CPU #0 handles host bus interfacing and DMA, while CPU #1 is dedicated entirely to a 16-bit MAC (multiply-accumulate) unit. At ROM offset 0x0909, the string 'M.H. // THE HATCH IS OPEN // ADVANCED ACOUSTICS LAB' is stored in ASCII. One 28-pin EPROM socket (labeled U14) is completely empty. What firmware was supposed to be in that socket? -- Valeria Santos Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Public Access Unix of New York. ------------------------------------------------------------ From mkuznetsov@u-tokyo.ac.jp Wed Jan 17 22:11:46 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-fi!relcom!kiae!u-tokyo!mkuznetsov From: mkuznetsov@u-tokyo.ac.jp (Min-jun Kuznetsov) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: TWIN-68 Rev C coprocessor board - schematic analysis & EPROM dump Message-ID: <1996Jan17.221146.1481@u-tokyo.ac.jp> Date: Wed, 17 Jan 1996 22:11:46 GMT References: <1996Jan16.153246.3294@panix.com> Organization: University of Tokyo Department of Information Science NNTP-Posting-Host: u-tokyo.ac.jp X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 10 In article <1996Jan16.153246.3294@panix.com>, vsantos@panix.com (Valeria Santos) writes: > Managed to dump the 27256 EPROMs from the TWIN-68 Rev C board recovered from Ashford Poly. > CPU #0 handles host bus interfacing and DMA, while CPU #1 is dedicated entirely to a 16-bit MAC (multiply-accumulate) unit. Looks like a prototype telecommunications board for military secure voice, not an audio music product. -- Min-jun Kuznetsov | mkuznetsov@u-tokyo.ac.jp PGP Key fingerprint: CBD5 EC15 EBBA E077 "Keep the channels open."
