Total execution time for a 20-minute audio track dropped from 48 minutes to 6.2 minutes. A 1024-point radix-2 FFT drops from 142 milliseconds under SANE to just 18 milliseconds using direct FPU instructions. Make sure you install the 32-bit Enabler on older IIci machines running System 7.1! -- Ines Rodríguez Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of European Laboratory for Particle Physics, Geneva. ------------------------------------------------------------ From tjohansson@u-tokyo.ac.jp Thu Aug 25 08:26:08 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!ukc!fennimore!u-tokyo!tjohansson From: tjohansson@u-tokyo.ac.jp (Takeshi Johansson) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Data: Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1994Aug25.082608.4656@u-tokyo.ac.jp> Date: Thu, 25 Aug 1994 08:26:08 GMT References: <1994Aug24.184608.4504@cern.ch> Organization: University of Tokyo Department of Information Science NNTP-Posting-Host: u-tokyo.ac.jp X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 10 In article <1994Aug24.184608.4504@cern.ch>, irodriguez@cern.ch (Ines Rodríguez) writes: > Benchmarking various C compilers and FPU math libraries on a Macintosh IIci (25 MHz 68030 + 68882). > Total execution time for a 20-minute audio track dropped from 48 minutes to 6.2 minutes. Beware of System 7.5.1 memory leaks if you allocate large sample buffers in the application heap.
