By passing the -mc68882 compiler flag in Think C, all sin/cos and sqrt operations compile directly to FPU opcodes. Total execution time for a 20-minute audio track dropped from 48 minutes to 6.2 minutes. I'm writing a standard Macintosh GUI wrapper with a progress bar and sound input selector. -- Nadia Andersson Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of ClariNet Communications Corp. ------------------------------------------------------------ From mcampbell@delphi.com Thu Feb 09 21:59:13 1995 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!jpgate!kamome!delphi!mcampbell From: mcampbell@delphi.com (Mikhail Campbell) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: [FLAME] Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1995Feb09.215913.8138@delphi.com> Date: Thu, 09 Feb 1995 21:59:13 GMT References: <1995Feb09.074113.5660@clari.net> Organization: Delphi Internet Services NNTP-Posting-Host: delphi.com X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 9 In article <1995Feb09.074113.5660@clari.net>, nandersson@clari.net (Nadia Andersson) writes: > Can a 1989 Mac IIci decode a 40-minute LP in reasonable time? Beware of System 7.5.1 memory leaks if you allocate large sample buffers in the application heap. Use NewPtrSys instead. -- Mikhail Campbell Zyxel U-1496E @ 9600 Telebit bps "Do not worship the copy."
