This indicates socket U14 held a cryptographic S-box lookup table for decrypting the Stardust keystream. Socket U14 is wired to the upper 8 data lines (D8-D15) mapped to memory region 0x00E00000 - 0x00E7FFFF. Did Marcus take the decryption EPROM with him when he left the lab? -- Raj Nilsson Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Universität Hamburg Fachbereich Informatik. ------------------------------------------------------------ From mcampbell@demon.co.uk Mon Jun 13 03:55:37 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!bigsur!demon!mcampbell From: mcampbell@demon.co.uk (Mei Campbell) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Observation: Disassembling socket U14 firmware on the TWIN-68 board Message-ID: <1994Jun13.035537.6806@demon.co.uk> Date: Mon, 13 Jun 1994 03:55:37 GMT References: <1994Jun11.125037.3607@uni-hamburg.de> Organization: Demon Internet Services UK NNTP-Posting-Host: demon.co.uk X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 9 In article <1994Jun11.125037.3607@uni-hamburg.de>, rnilsson@uni-hamburg.de (Raj Nilsson) writes: > Tracing the address decoder lines on the motherboard reveals what was supposed to be in socket U14.
