Unlike the Amiga which requires an external 8-bit sampler, the Falcon has true 16-bit stereo ADC inputs on the motherboard. The DSP56001 processes the 44.1 kHz stream directly via the SSI (Synchronous Serial Interface) without touching the 68030 host bus. Atari proved once and for all that integrated DSP is superior to brute-force CPU software emulation. -- Bruno Martínez "5 sigma is a discovery. 7 is a question." The SSI to DSP56001 architecture on the Falcon is magnificent. Zero CPU overhead during 50 kHz audio acquisition. -- Kirsty Fournier | kfournier@uni-hamburg.de PGP Key fingerprint: DF2B E908 F995 70EA "Keep the channels open."
