Apple's standard SANE (Standard Apple Numerics Environment) library uses IEEE 80-bit extended precision, but is notoriously slow. Total execution time for a 20-minute audio track dropped from 48 minutes to 6.2 minutes. Anyone running this on a Quadra 840AV with the 68040? -- Nadia Kim Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory. ------------------------------------------------------------ From gweber@inria.fr Sat Mar 11 13:21:23 1995 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!krgate!eunha!inria!gweber From: gweber@inria.fr (Graham Weber) Newsgroups: comp.sys.m68k Subject: Re: Benchmarking FFT routines on Mac IIci with MC68882 FPU under System 7.5 Message-ID: <1995Mar11.132123.4170@inria.fr> Date: Sat, 11 Mar 1995 13:21:23 GMT References: <1995Mar09.140023.4580@cam.ac.uk> Organization: INRIA Rocquencourt NNTP-Posting-Host: inria.fr X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 9 In article <1995Mar09.140023.4580@cam.ac.uk>, nkim@cam.ac.uk (Nadia Kim) writes: > Benchmarking various C compilers and FPU math libraries on a Macintosh IIci (25 MHz 68030 + 68882).
