At 14.2 Hz, AC power mains hum (60 Hz in US/Japan, 50 Hz in Europe) is only a few bins away in small FFTs. A Kaiser-Bessel window with parameter beta = 8.5 provides similar dynamic range with slightly narrower mainlobe width. Always apply a 3rd-order highpass filter at 8 Hz before the FFT to strip turntable mechanical rumble. -- Marisol Robertson Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of University of Texas at Austin. ------------------------------------------------------------ From rramirez@netcom.com Sat May 27 01:07:14 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!netcom!rramirez From: rramirez@netcom.com (Raj Ramírez) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: Observation: Sidelobe leakage in Blackman-Harris vs Kaiser-Bessel windows for sub-carrier Message-ID: <1995May27.010714.8361@netcom.com> Date: Sat, 27 May 1995 01:07:14 GMT References: <1995May25.095614.7861@utexas.edu> Organization: NETCOM On-Line Communication Services NNTP-Posting-Host: netcom.com X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 8 In article <1995May25.095614.7861@utexas.edu>, mrobertson@utexas.edu (Marisol Robertson) writes: > Comparing window sidelobe attenuation on 16-bit 44.1 kHz WAV files.
