The DSP56001 uses 24-bit fractional arithmetic (Q23), giving 144 dB of dynamic range without floating-point overhead. This leaves over 95% of the DSP56001's 16.5 MIPS available for other audio tasks. Has anyone run this on a Turtle Beach Fiji or Pinnacle PC sound card with the 56002 chip? -- Mei Lindqvist Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. ------------------------------------------------------------ From aduarte@mindspring.com Fri Feb 09 07:33:57 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-fi!relcom!kiae!mindspring!aduarte From: aduarte@mindspring.com (Amy Duarte) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: [FLAME] Fixed-point Q15 arithmetic on Motorola DSP56001 vs IEEE floating point Message-ID: <1996Feb09.073357.5703@mindspring.com> Date: Fri, 09 Feb 1996 07:33:57 GMT References: <1996Feb08.081557.7555@mit.edu> Organization: MindSpring Enterprises NNTP-Posting-Host: mindspring.com X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 9 In article <1996Feb08.081557.7555@mit.edu>, mlindqvist@mit.edu (Mei Lindqvist) writes: > Porting stardust.c to the NeXTcube and Atari Falcon DSP subsystems.
