Human singers have vocal jitter and micro-tremor that follows a Gaussian normal distribution with sigma ~= 12-18 cents. Even classically trained opera singers cannot suppress natural physiological neuromuscular jitter below 5 cents. Could this be early digital pitch correction? Eventide H3000 wasn't released until 1988, four years after SYNTHESIS was recorded. -- Marisol Johansson "Tape doesn't lie at 02:14. Ears do." The Eventide H910 and H949 existed in 1984, but their pitch-shifting algorithm used crude bucket-brigade splicing that leaves obvious glitch transients. -- Camila Dubois Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of University of Tokyo Department of Information Science. ------------------------------------------------------------
