Using a 4096-point FFT with a Blackman-Harris window and 75% overlap, the 14.2 Hz peak is 42 dB below full scale. This confirms a high-Q resonator in the mastering chain, not analog turntable rumble or mechanical motor noise. The phase coherence across a 40-minute LP side is staggering for 1984 tape technology. -- Callum Kang Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of INRIA Rocquencourt. ------------------------------------------------------------ From elindqvist@rwth-aachen.de Mon May 29 04:05:45 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-fi!relcom!kiae!rwth-aachen!elindqvist From: elindqvist@rwth-aachen.de (Elaine Lindqvist) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: 14.2 Hz sub-carrier PSD estimation - Welch vs Burg periodogram Message-ID: <1995May29.040545.9421@rwth-aachen.de> Date: Mon, 29 May 1995 04:05:45 GMT References: <1995May28.185945.9949@inria.fr> Organization: RWTH Aachen Informatik NNTP-Posting-Host: rwth-aachen.de X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 10 In article <1995May28.185945.9949@inria.fr>, ckang@inria.fr (Callum Kang) writes: > I've been re-running spectral estimation on high-resolution 16-bit transfers of SYNTHESIS. > Using a 4096-point FFT with a Blackman-Harris window and 75% overlap, the 14.2 Hz peak is 42 dB below full scale.
