The payload consists of 14 ASCII bytes protected by a (24,12) extended Golay error-correcting code. Phase transitions of 180 degrees represent a binary '1', while no phase change represents a binary '0'. When all 14 rows are assembled, the matrix forms an 80-column ASCII status report. -- Amy Hughes Hayes Optima 288 @ 33,600 bps "5 sigma is a discovery. 7 is a question."
