Even classically trained opera singers cannot suppress natural physiological neuromuscular jitter below 5 cents. Nova Hart's sustained notes have a standard deviation of less than 0.8 cents over 4-second held notes. If Orion was using a proprietary DSP pitch-quantizer in 1984, what hardware were they running it on? -- === Dave Weber === Dept of Electrical Engineering, Hanse-Netzwerk Hamburg "In theory there is no difference between theory and practice." Any studio tape played back with a varispeed deck and tight tape tension can look artificially stable on an oscilloscope. Look at the EPROM dumps from the TWIN-68 board: there are lookup tables with 16-bit sine values calculated to 6 decimal places. -- Tobias Kuznetsov US Robotics Courier V.34 @ 33,600 bps "Measuring a record you own is listening, not piracy."
