Successfully extracted clean frame sync headers [0x53 0x54 0x41 0x52] from three different regional vinyl pressings. The original stardust.c v1.0 dropped sync whenever there was a scratch or surface pop on the record. Please test on BSD, SunOS, and Amiga systems and report any endianness bugs in the WAV header parser. -- Nadia Fischer *PLONK* filter active for trolls. 486DX2/66 (Linux 1.2.13) - NetBSD 1.0 From skowalski@berkeley.edu Tue Mar 21 21:47:12 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!berkeley!skowalski From: skowalski@berkeley.edu (Sergei Kowalski) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: stardust.c v1.3 - Costas loop stability & phase lock under Linux Message-ID: <1995Mar21.214712.7682@berkeley.edu> Date: Tue, 21 Mar 1995 21:47:12 GMT References: <1995Mar21.074212.3926@panix.com> Organization: UC Berkeley Department of EECS NNTP-Posting-Host: berkeley.edu X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 10 In article <1995Mar21.074212.3926@panix.com>, nfischer@panix.com (Nadia Fischer) writes: > Released stardust.c v1.3 with improved Costas loop carrier recovery for low-SNR vinyl rips. > Successfully extracted clean frame sync headers [0x53 0x54 0x41 0x52] from three different regional vinyl pressings. Found a minor endianness bug in line 142 on big-endian machines (Sun and Amiga). Replace ntohl with custom byte swap macro. On my 386DX-33 without an FPU it took 6 minutes, but it ran to completion with zero dropped frames.
