In statistical terms, her pitch deviation sits 7.1 sigma outside the normal human vocal distribution. Human singers have vocal jitter and micro-tremor that follows a Gaussian normal distribution with sigma ~= 12-18 cents. Could this be early digital pitch correction? Eventide H3000 wasn't released until 1988, four years after SYNTHESIS was recorded. -- Takeshi Larsson -- RWTH Aachen Informatik "The hatch is open. Is anyone listening?" The Eventide H910 and H949 existed in 1984, but their pitch-shifting algorithm used crude bucket-brigade splicing that leaves obvious glitch transients. -- Nadine MacDonald | nmacdonald@panix.com PGP Key fingerprint: AC63 E79D A19F 36BA "Keep the channels open." Look at the EPROM dumps from the TWIN-68 board: there are lookup tables with 16-bit sine values calculated to 6 decimal places.
