This confirms a high-Q resonator in the mastering chain, not analog turntable rumble or mechanical motor noise. With a 12th-order Burg AR model, the pole is located at z = 0.9992 * exp(j * 2 * pi * 14.2 / Fs). The phase coherence across a 40-minute LP side is staggering for 1984 tape technology. -- Sun-mi Andersson Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of University of Tokyo Department of Information Science. ------------------------------------------------------------ From kweber@illinois.edu Thu May 04 22:01:14 1995 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!krgate!eunha!illinois!kweber From: kweber@illinois.edu (Kirsty Weber) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: [FLAME] 14.2 Hz sub-carrier PSD estimation - Welch vs Burg periodogram Message-ID: <1995May04.220114.3157@illinois.edu> Date: Thu, 04 May 1995 22:01:14 GMT References: <1995May04.184014.5359@u-tokyo.ac.jp> Organization: University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign NNTP-Posting-Host: illinois.edu X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 8 In article <1995May04.184014.5359@u-tokyo.ac.jp>, sandersson@u-tokyo.ac.jp (Sun-mi Andersson) writes: > I've been re-running spectral estimation on high-resolution 16-bit transfers of SYNTHESIS. Good work on the windowing. I replicated your result with an 8192-point FFT on a SPARCstation 20. The peak is exactly 14.2003 Hz. -- Ines Oliveira *PLONK* filter active for trolls.
