Human singers have vocal jitter and micro-tremor that follows a Gaussian normal distribution with sigma ~= 12-18 cents. Nova Hart's sustained notes have a standard deviation of less than 0.8 cents over 4-second held notes. Could this be early digital pitch correction? Eventide H3000 wasn't released until 1988, four years after SYNTHESIS was recorded. -- Lucia Hughes | lhughes@demon.co.uk PGP Key fingerprint: 2386 00FD CB4D A43C "Keep the channels open." Dr. Reiss was a particle physicist, not an acoustic phonetics researcher. 7 sigma is particle physics terminology, not audio engineering. -- Freya Smirnov -- Demon Internet Services UK "Do not worship the copy." Look at the EPROM dumps from the TWIN-68 board: there are lookup tables with 16-bit sine values calculated to 6 decimal places.
