Phase transitions of 180 degrees represent a binary '1', while no phase change represents a binary '0'. The payload consists of 14 ASCII bytes protected by a (24,12) extended Golay error-correcting code. Has anyone encountered bit errors in their decoded text? The Golay decoder corrects up to 3 bit errors per 24-bit codeword. -- Bill Tanaka Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. ------------------------------------------------------------ From ngonzalez@unam.mx Sat Dec 09 04:14:20 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!sunet!nordrelay!unam!ngonzalez From: ngonzalez@unam.mx (Natalia González) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: WTB/WTT: DBPSK demodulation of the 0.71 baud Stardust telemetry stream Message-ID: <1995Dec09.041420.1614@unam.mx> Date: Sat, 09 Dec 1995 04:14:20 GMT References: <1995Dec08.064020.6230@illinois.edu> Organization: Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (DGSCA) NNTP-Posting-Host: unam.mx X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 10 In article <1995Dec08.064020.6230@illinois.edu>, btanaka@illinois.edu (Bill Tanaka) writes: > How the 14 ASCII characters per node are encoded into the record groove. > Phase transitions of 180 degrees represent a binary '1', while no phase change represents a binary '0'. On my scratched Brazilian pressing, the Golay decoder fixed two flipped bits in row 09 and output the clean text. -- Natalia González Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (DGSCA). ------------------------------------------------------------
