Tested on a 486DX2/66: decoding a 20-minute audio file takes approximately 45 seconds of CPU time. The original stardust.c v1.0 dropped sync whenever there was a scratch or surface pop on the record. Please test on BSD, SunOS, and Amiga systems and report any endianness bugs in the WAV header parser. -- Bastien Souza Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of University of Texas at Austin. ------------------------------------------------------------ From ystewart@mit.edu Tue Dec 13 04:42:04 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!mxgate!coyoacan!mit!ystewart From: ystewart@mit.edu (Yuki Stewart) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: stardust.c v1.3 - Costas loop stability & phase lock under Linux Message-ID: <1994Dec13.044204.5571@mit.edu> Date: Tue, 13 Dec 1994 04:42:04 GMT References: <1994Dec12.055804.4840@utexas.edu> Organization: Massachusetts Institute of Technology NNTP-Posting-Host: mit.edu X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 10 In article <1994Dec12.055804.4840@utexas.edu>, bsouza@utexas.edu (Bastien Souza) writes: > Demodulating the 14.2 Hz Stardust carrier: software update and benchmark results. > Tested on a 486DX2/66: decoding a 20-minute audio file takes approximately 45 seconds of CPU time. Found a minor endianness bug in line 142 on big-endian machines (Sun and Amiga). Replace ntohl with custom byte swap macro. Compiled cleanly under gcc -O2 on my Slackware box. The adaptive Costas loop is rock solid even on my scratched US copy.
