Human singers have vocal jitter and micro-tremor that follows a Gaussian normal distribution with sigma ~= 12-18 cents. In statistical terms, her pitch deviation sits 7.1 sigma outside the normal human vocal distribution. Could this be early digital pitch correction? Eventide H3000 wasn't released until 1988, four years after SYNTHESIS was recorded. -- Dave Weber Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Universität Hamburg Fachbereich Informatik. ------------------------------------------------------------ From ngonzalez@unam.mx Sat Nov 11 12:17:54 1995 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!jpgate!kamome!unam!ngonzalez From: ngonzalez@unam.mx (Natalia González) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: [FLAME] Replicating Anton Reiss's 7.1-sigma pitch variance analysis Message-ID: <1995Nov11.121754.2506@unam.mx> Date: Sat, 11 Nov 1995 12:17:54 GMT References: <1995Nov10.154254.6918@uni-hamburg.de> Organization: Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (DGSCA) NNTP-Posting-Host: unam.mx X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 12 In article <1995Nov10.154254.6918@uni-hamburg.de>, dweber@uni-hamburg.de (Dave Weber) writes: > Attempted to replicate Dr. Anton Reiss's 1989 paper on Nova Hart's vocal pitch distribution. > Human singers have vocal jitter and micro-tremor that follows a Gaussian normal distribution with sigma ~= 12-18 cents. Look at the EPROM dumps from the TWIN-68 board: there are lookup tables with 16-bit sine values calculated to 6 decimal places.
