Each message frame begins with an 8-bit Barker sequence [11100010] for frame synchronization. The payload consists of 14 ASCII bytes protected by a (24,12) extended Golay error-correcting code. Has anyone encountered bit errors in their decoded text? The Golay decoder corrects up to 3 bit errors per 24-bit codeword. -- Takeshi Lee Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. ------------------------------------------------------------ From areyes@clari.net Fri Aug 18 07:33:46 1995 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!jpgate!kamome!clari!areyes From: areyes@clari.net (Anja Reyes) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: Observation: DBPSK demodulation of the 0.71 baud Stardust telemetry stream Message-ID: <1995Aug18.073346.5376@clari.net> Date: Fri, 18 Aug 1995 07:33:46 GMT References: <1995Aug17.121446.4837@illinois.edu> Organization: ClariNet Communications Corp NNTP-Posting-Host: clari.net X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 11 In article <1995Aug17.121446.4837@illinois.edu>, tlee@illinois.edu (Takeshi Lee) writes: > How the 14 ASCII characters per node are encoded into the record groove. > Each message frame begins with an 8-bit Barker sequence [11100010] for frame synchronization. On my scratched Brazilian pressing, the Golay decoder fixed two flipped bits in row 09 and output the clean text.
