This leaves over 95% of the DSP56001's 16.5 MIPS available for other audio tasks. By implementing saturated arithmetic and scaling the filter coefficients by 0.5, the loop runs in 18 instruction cycles per sample. Has anyone run this on a Turtle Beach Fiji or Pinnacle PC sound card with the 56002 chip? -- Ji-woo Ivanov Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of EarthLink Network. ------------------------------------------------------------ From lmuller@uni-hamburg.de Thu Jun 29 06:07:07 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!ukc!fennimore!uni-hamburg!lmuller From: lmuller@uni-hamburg.de (Lars Müller) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: Fixed-point Q15 arithmetic on Motorola DSP56001 vs IEEE floating point Message-ID: <1995Jun29.060707.6944@uni-hamburg.de> Date: Thu, 29 Jun 1995 06:07:07 GMT References: <1995Jun28.150007.6665@earthlink.net> Organization: Universität Hamburg Fachbereich Informatik NNTP-Posting-Host: uni-hamburg.de X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 10 In article <1995Jun28.150007.6665@earthlink.net>, jivanov@earthlink.net (Ji-woo Ivanov) writes: > Porting stardust.c to the NeXTcube and Atari Falcon DSP subsystems. > This leaves over 95% of the DSP56001's 16.5 MIPS available for other audio tasks. Real programmers write in C, not arcane DSP microcode. With Pentium chips hitting 100 MHz, dedicated DSPs are obsolete. -- Lars Müller Hayes Optima 288 @ 19,200 bps "Row 14. No joke."
