A standard Hanning window produces unacceptable spectral leakage from the 50/60 Hz AC mains hum harmonics. Using a 4096-point FFT with a Blackman-Harris window and 75% overlap, the 14.2 Hz peak is 42 dB below full scale. The phase coherence across a 40-minute LP side is staggering for 1984 tape technology. -- Diego Hughes *PLONK* filter active for trolls. 486DX4/100 (FreeBSD 2.0.5) - NetBSD 1.0 From ggarcia@mindspring.com Mon Mar 07 16:02:37 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-de!hansebox!mindspring!ggarcia From: ggarcia@mindspring.com (Göran García) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: [INFO] 14.2 Hz sub-carrier PSD estimation - Welch vs Burg periodogram Message-ID: <1994Mar07.160237.2338@mindspring.com> Date: Mon, 07 Mar 1994 16:02:37 GMT References: <1994Mar06.221537.2072@kiae.su> Organization: MindSpring Enterprises NNTP-Posting-Host: mindspring.com X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 10 In article <1994Mar06.221537.2072@kiae.su>, dhughes@kiae.su (Diego Hughes) writes: > I've been re-running spectral estimation on high-resolution 16-bit transfers of SYNTHESIS. > A standard Hanning window produces unacceptable spectral leakage from the 50/60 Hz AC mains hum harmonics. Keep articles concise! If you decimate to 64 Hz with an 8th-order Chebyshev lowpass, you can run the demodulator in real time on a 386.
