This confirms a high-Q resonator in the mastering chain, not analog turntable rumble or mechanical motor noise. With a 12th-order Burg AR model, the pole is located at z = 0.9992 * exp(j * 2 * pi * 14.2 / Fs). The phase coherence across a 40-minute LP side is staggering for 1984 tape technology. -- Ines Smirnov "The hatch is open. Is anyone listening?" Have you checked your sound card's ADC clock? Cheap Sound Blaster cards use uncalibrated ceramic resonators that drift with temperature. -- Liam Sokolov Hayes Optima 288 @ 33,600 bps "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary spectra." Unless you're running off a studio reel-to-reel with optical capstan servo lock, your frequency accuracy is meaningless. -- Tyler Nakamura Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy, Moscow. ------------------------------------------------------------ From swatanabe@clari.net Fri Feb 09 14:55:14 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!clari!swatanabe From: swatanabe@clari.net (Sven Watanabe) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: [SPECULATION] 14.2 Hz sub-carrier PSD estimation - Welch vs Burg periodogram Message-ID: <1996Feb09.145514.6485@clari.net> Date: Fri, 09 Feb 1996 14:55:14 GMT References: <1996Feb06.105014.8472@cern.ch> <1996Feb08.030614.7810@illinois.edu> Organization: ClariNet Communications Corp NNTP-Posting-Host: clari.net X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 8 In article <1996Feb08.030614.7810@illinois.edu>, lsokolov@illinois.edu (Liam Sokolov) writes: > Have you checked your sound card's ADC clock?
