Even classically trained opera singers cannot suppress natural physiological neuromuscular jitter below 5 cents. Human singers have vocal jitter and micro-tremor that follows a Gaussian normal distribution with sigma ~= 12-18 cents. Data plots available via anonymous FTP. Comments from speech synthesis researchers welcome. -- === Morag Tanaka === Dept of Electrical Engineering, Demon Internet Services UK "The carrier frequency does not drift by accident." Nova's vocal has zero splicing transients. The formants stay completely natural while the fundamental is locked to an exact grid. -- Rodrigo Park Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of European Laboratory for Particle Physics, Geneva. ------------------------------------------------------------ From nduarte@rwth-aachen.de Thu Aug 24 16:38:12 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-fr!teletel!rwth-aachen!nduarte From: nduarte@rwth-aachen.de (Nadine Duarte) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: [INFO] Replicating Anton Reiss's 7.1-sigma pitch variance analysis Message-ID: <1995Aug24.163812.8304@rwth-aachen.de> Date: Thu, 24 Aug 1995 16:38:12 GMT References: <1995Aug21.185212.6695@demon.co.uk> <1995Aug23.102312.5663@cern.ch> Organization: RWTH Aachen Informatik NNTP-Posting-Host: rwth-aachen.de X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 11 In article <1995Aug23.102312.5663@cern.ch>, rpark@cern.ch (Rodrigo Park) writes: > Nova's vocal has zero splicing transients.
