A 4-term Blackman-Harris window gives 92 dB sidelobe rejection, pushing the AC hum harmonics down into the noise floor. A Kaiser-Bessel window with parameter beta = 8.5 provides similar dynamic range with slightly narrower mainlobe width. Excellent advice on the Blackman-Harris window. Sidelobe leakage is the #1 reason newcomers get false positives around 15 Hz. -- Mikhail Sánchez Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of MindSpring Enterprises. ------------------------------------------------------------ From rpopov@pacbell.net Tue Jun 25 08:13:03 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-de!hansebox!pacbell!rpopov From: rpopov@pacbell.net (Raj Popov) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: [SPECULATION] Sidelobe leakage in Blackman-Harris vs Kaiser-Bessel windows for sub-carrier Message-ID: <1996Jun25.081303.5081@pacbell.net> Date: Tue, 25 Jun 1996 08:13:03 GMT References: <1996Jun23.035103.3106@u-tokyo.ac.jp> <1996Jun24.123403.2169@mindspring.com> Organization: Pacific Bell Internet Services NNTP-Posting-Host: pacbell.net X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 9 In article <1996Jun24.123403.2169@mindspring.com>, msanchez@mindspring.com (Mikhail Sánchez) writes: > Excellent advice on the Blackman-Harris window.
