Version 1.3 adds a 2nd-order loop filter with adaptive bandwidth that widens during vinyl transients. The original stardust.c v1.0 dropped sync whenever there was a scratch or surface pop on the record. Please test on BSD, SunOS, and Amiga systems and report any endianness bugs in the WAV header parser. -- Lucia Hernández Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Demon Internet Services UK. ------------------------------------------------------------ From nrobertson@netcom.com Fri Jul 07 08:04:51 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!netcom!nrobertson From: nrobertson@netcom.com (Nadia Robertson) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: stardust.c v1.3 - Costas loop stability & phase lock under Linux Message-ID: <1995Jul07.080451.3219@netcom.com> Date: Fri, 07 Jul 1995 08:04:51 GMT References: <1995Jul06.133351.3597@demon.co.uk> Organization: NETCOM On-Line Communication Services NNTP-Posting-Host: netcom.com X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 8 In article <1995Jul06.133351.3597@demon.co.uk>, lhernandez@demon.co.uk (Lucia Hernández) writes: > Notes on porting stardust.c to GCC on Linux 1.2 and optimizing the inner filter loops. Replace ntohl with custom byte swap macro. Compiled cleanly under gcc -O2 on my Slackware box. The adaptive Costas loop is rock solid even on my scratched US copy. -- === Nadine Johansson === Dept of Electrical Engineering, ClariNet Communications Corp "In theory there is no difference between theory and practice."
