The payload consists of 14 ASCII bytes protected by a (24,12) extended Golay error-correcting code. The symbol duration is exactly 1.408 seconds, corresponding to a symbol rate of 0.7107 baud (14.2 Hz / 20). Has anyone encountered bit errors in their decoded text? The Golay decoder corrects up to 3 bit errors per 24-bit codeword. -- Mei Pérez Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (DGSCA). ------------------------------------------------------------ From jpopov@titech.ac.jp Sat Feb 03 17:59:45 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!titech!jpopov From: jpopov@titech.ac.jp (Jens Popov) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: WTB/WTT: DBPSK demodulation of the 0.71 baud Stardust telemetry stream Message-ID: <1996Feb03.175945.8498@titech.ac.jp> Date: Sat, 03 Feb 1996 17:59:45 GMT References: <1996Feb03.044645.4015@unam.mx> Organization: Tokyo Institute of Technology Computer Centre NNTP-Posting-Host: titech.ac.jp X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 10 In article <1996Feb03.044645.4015@unam.mx>, mperez@unam.mx (Mei Pérez) writes: > Mathematical proof of the modulation scheme used on the 14.2 Hz carrier across all regional pressings. > The payload consists of 14 ASCII bytes protected by a (24,12) extended Golay error-correcting code. A symbol rate of 0.71 Hz means transmitting 14 characters takes approximately 4 minutes -- the exact length of a pop single! -- Jens Popov Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Tokyo Institute of Technology Computer Centre. ------------------------------------------------------------
