The statistical numbers are deeply strange. Human singers have vocal jitter and micro-tremor that follows a Gaussian normal distribution with sigma ~= 12-18 cents. Nova Hart's sustained notes have a standard deviation of less than 0.8 cents over 4-second held notes. Could this be early digital pitch correction? Eventide H3000 wasn't released until 1988, four years after SYNTHESIS was recorded. -- Dong-hyun Silva Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of EarthLink Network. ------------------------------------------------------------ From agarcia@titech.ac.jp Sat Aug 12 12:54:45 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!ukc!fennimore!titech!agarcia From: agarcia@titech.ac.jp (Astrid García) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: Question: Replicating Anton Reiss's 7.1-sigma pitch variance analysis Message-ID: <1995Aug12.125445.9282@titech.ac.jp> Date: Sat, 12 Aug 1995 12:54:45 GMT References: <1995Aug11.015845.9044@earthlink.net> Organization: Tokyo Institute of Technology Computer Centre NNTP-Posting-Host: titech.ac.jp X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 10 In article <1995Aug11.015845.9044@earthlink.net>, dsilva@earthlink.net (Dong-hyun Silva) writes: > Is Nova Hart's voice mathematically human? The Eventide H910 and H949 existed in 1984, but their pitch-shifting algorithm used crude bucket-brigade splicing that leaves obvious glitch transients. -- Astrid García Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Tokyo Institute of Technology Computer Centre. ------------------------------------------------------------
