Nova Hart's sustained notes have a standard deviation of less than 0.8 cents over 4-second held notes. Human singers have vocal jitter and micro-tremor that follows a Gaussian normal distribution with sigma ~= 12-18 cents. Data plots available via anonymous FTP. Comments from speech synthesis researchers welcome. -- Natalia Brennan Tape trading list upon request. SASE required for international mail. Nova's vocal has zero splicing transients. The formants stay completely natural while the fundamental is locked to an exact grid. Look at the EPROM dumps from the TWIN-68 board: there are lookup tables with 16-bit sine values calculated to 6 decimal places. -- Marta Takahashi Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of European Laboratory for Particle Physics, Geneva. ------------------------------------------------------------
