Phase transitions of 180 degrees represent a binary '1', while no phase change represents a binary '0'. The symbol duration is exactly 1.408 seconds, corresponding to a symbol rate of 0.7107 baud (14.2 Hz / 20). Has anyone encountered bit errors in their decoded text? The Golay decoder corrects up to 3 bit errors per 24-bit codeword. -- Camila Tanaka Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Pacific Bell Internet Services. ------------------------------------------------------------ From asmirnov@uu.net Wed Mar 22 09:00:18 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!uu!asmirnov From: asmirnov@uu.net (Anja Smirnov) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: [SPECULATION] DBPSK demodulation of the 0.71 baud Stardust telemetry stream Message-ID: <1995Mar22.090018.8862@uu.net> Date: Wed, 22 Mar 1995 09:00:18 GMT References: <1995Mar20.231418.6556@pacbell.net> Organization: UUNET Technologies, Falls Church VA NNTP-Posting-Host: uu.net X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 11 In article <1995Mar20.231418.6556@pacbell.net>, ctanaka@pacbell.net (Camila Tanaka) writes: > Mathematical proof of the modulation scheme used on the 14.2 Hz carrier across all regional pressings. The Golay code confirms Marcus Hale's military background. The Voyager spacecraft and NATO satcom systems use the exact same code. A symbol rate of 0.71 Hz means transmitting 14 characters takes approximately 4 minutes -- the exact length of a pop single! The song wasn't written around the lyrics. The lyrics were timed to match the telemetry packet duration!
