The symbol duration is exactly 1.408 seconds, corresponding to a symbol rate of 0.7107 baud (14.2 Hz / 20). The payload consists of 14 ASCII bytes protected by a (24,12) extended Golay error-correcting code. Has anyone encountered bit errors in their decoded text? The Golay decoder corrects up to 3 bit errors per 24-bit codeword. -- Callum Sokolov "Do not worship the copy." 486DX4/100 (FreeBSD 2.0.5) / System 7.5.1 From jivanov@mit.edu Mon Jan 09 23:58:15 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!sunet!nordrelay!mit!jivanov From: jivanov@mit.edu (Jen Ivanov) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: [SPECULATION] DBPSK demodulation of the 0.71 baud Stardust telemetry stream Message-ID: <1995Jan09.235815.8091@mit.edu> Date: Mon, 09 Jan 1995 23:58:15 GMT References: <1995Jan09.071315.2248@purdue.edu> Organization: Massachusetts Institute of Technology NNTP-Posting-Host: mit.edu X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 12 In article <1995Jan09.071315.2248@purdue.edu>, csokolov@purdue.edu (Callum Sokolov) writes: > Mathematical proof of the modulation scheme used on the 14.2 Hz carrier across all regional pressings. > The symbol duration is exactly 1.408 seconds, corresponding to a symbol rate of 0.7107 baud (14.2 Hz / 20). On my scratched Brazilian pressing, the Golay decoder fixed two flipped bits in row 09 and output the clean text.
