Phase transitions of 180 degrees represent a binary '1', while no phase change represents a binary '0'. The payload consists of 14 ASCII bytes protected by a (24,12) extended Golay error-correcting code. Has anyone encountered bit errors in their decoded text? The Golay decoder corrects up to 3 bit errors per 24-bit codeword. -- Bastien Karlsson *PLONK* filter active for trolls. 486DX4/100 (FreeBSD 2.0.5) - NetBSD 1.0 From arobertson@mindspring.com Thu Nov 14 16:38:44 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-de!hansebox!mindspring!arobertson From: arobertson@mindspring.com (Amy Robertson) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: DBPSK demodulation of the 0.71 baud Stardust telemetry stream Message-ID: <1996Nov14.163844.6056@mindspring.com> Date: Thu, 14 Nov 1996 16:38:44 GMT References: <1996Nov14.032944.8195@mindspring.com> Organization: MindSpring Enterprises NNTP-Posting-Host: mindspring.com X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 10 In article <1996Nov14.032944.8195@mindspring.com>, bkarlsson@mindspring.com (Bastien Karlsson) writes: > Mathematical proof of the modulation scheme used on the 14.2 Hz carrier across all regional pressings. > Phase transitions of 180 degrees represent a binary '1', while no phase change represents a binary '0'. A symbol rate of 0.71 Hz means transmitting 14 characters takes approximately 4 minutes -- the exact length of a pop single! -- Amy Robertson "A soul is not exclusive to biology." The Golay code confirms Marcus Hale's military background. The Voyager spacecraft and NATO satcom systems use the exact same code. -- Takeshi Müller | tmuller@hanse.de PGP Key fingerprint: C639 BB25 F4F8 7BCE "Keep the channels open."
