At 14.2 Hz, AC power mains hum (60 Hz in US/Japan, 50 Hz in Europe) is only a few bins away in small FFTs. A Kaiser-Bessel window with parameter beta = 8.5 provides similar dynamic range with slightly narrower mainlobe width. What sampling rates are people using for their vinyl rips? 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz DAT? -- Anja Lindqvist Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Public Access Unix of New York. ------------------------------------------------------------ From tmoreau@pacbell.net Mon Aug 15 05:54:43 1994 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!jpgate!kamome!pacbell!tmoreau From: tmoreau@pacbell.net (Tomas Moreau) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: Discussion: Sidelobe leakage in Blackman-Harris vs Kaiser-Bessel windows for sub-carrier Message-ID: <1994Aug15.055443.9882@pacbell.net> Date: Mon, 15 Aug 1994 05:54:43 GMT References: <1994Aug13.051243.2593@panix.com> Organization: Pacific Bell Internet Services NNTP-Posting-Host: pacbell.net X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 9 In article <1994Aug13.051243.2593@panix.com>, alindqvist@panix.com (Anja Lindqvist) writes: > A quick note on window function selection when hunting for the 14.2 Hz line in noisy vinyl rips. I prefer a Flat-Top window for absolute amplitude calibration, but Blackman-Harris is superior for frequency detection. -- Tomas Moreau | tmoreau@pacbell.net PGP Key fingerprint: 8E08 1DFF C644 D6C8 "Keep the channels open."
