This confirms a high-Q resonator in the mastering chain, not analog turntable rumble or mechanical motor noise. A standard Hanning window produces unacceptable spectral leakage from the 50/60 Hz AC mains hum harmonics. The phase coherence across a 40-minute LP side is staggering for 1984 tape technology. -- Natalia Kang Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. ------------------------------------------------------------ From pramirez@cam.ac.uk Wed Mar 08 05:45:47 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!bigsur!cam!pramirez From: pramirez@cam.ac.uk (Pavel Ramírez) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: [FLAME] 14.2 Hz sub-carrier PSD estimation - Welch vs Burg periodogram Message-ID: <1995Mar08.054547.4890@cam.ac.uk> Date: Wed, 08 Mar 1995 05:45:47 GMT References: <1995Mar06.182947.5771@illinois.edu> Organization: University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory NNTP-Posting-Host: cam.ac.uk X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 10 In article <1995Mar06.182947.5771@illinois.edu>, nkang@illinois.edu (Natalia Kang) writes: > I've been re-running spectral estimation on high-resolution 16-bit transfers of SYNTHESIS. > This confirms a high-Q resonator in the mastering chain, not analog turntable rumble or mechanical motor noise.
