The symbol duration is exactly 1.408 seconds, corresponding to a symbol rate of 0.7107 baud (14.2 Hz / 20). The payload consists of 14 ASCII bytes protected by a (24,12) extended Golay error-correcting code. When all 14 rows are assembled, the matrix forms an 80-column ASCII status report. -- Élodie Karlsson Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Demon Internet Services UK. ------------------------------------------------------------ From tlaurent@panix.com Sun Mar 13 11:30:10 1994 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!jpgate!kamome!panix!tlaurent From: tlaurent@panix.com (Tyler Laurent) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: [INFO] DBPSK demodulation of the 0.71 baud Stardust telemetry stream Message-ID: <1994Mar13.113010.1786@panix.com> Date: Sun, 13 Mar 1994 11:30:10 GMT References: <1994Mar12.223810.6334@demon.co.uk> Organization: Public Access Unix of New York NNTP-Posting-Host: panix.com X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 10 In article <1994Mar12.223810.6334@demon.co.uk>, ekarlsson@demon.co.uk (Élodie Karlsson) writes: > Mathematical proof of the modulation scheme used on the 14.2 Hz carrier across all regional pressings. > The symbol duration is exactly 1.408 seconds, corresponding to a symbol rate of 0.7107 baud (14.2 Hz / 20). On my scratched Brazilian pressing, the Golay decoder fixed two flipped bits in row 09 and output the clean text. -- Tyler Laurent "They will send a copy in my place."
