Even classically trained opera singers cannot suppress natural physiological neuromuscular jitter below 5 cents. Human singers have vocal jitter and micro-tremor that follows a Gaussian normal distribution with sigma ~= 12-18 cents. Could this be early digital pitch correction? Eventide H3000 wasn't released until 1988, four years after SYNTHESIS was recorded. -- === Dmitri Petrov === Dept of Electrical Engineering, Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy, Moscow "The carrier frequency does not drift by accident." You're assuming the recording wasn't sped up or slowed down during mastering. -- Dmitri Kang Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of University of Tokyo Department of Information Science. ------------------------------------------------------------ From dlindqvist@mit.edu Sun Mar 26 14:28:26 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!mit!dlindqvist From: dlindqvist@mit.edu (Dave Lindqvist) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: Observation: Replicating Anton Reiss's 7.1-sigma pitch variance analysis Message-ID: <1995Mar26.142826.4696@mit.edu> Date: Sun, 26 Mar 1995 14:28:26 GMT References: <1995Mar23.210526.9454@kiae.su> Organization: Massachusetts Institute of Technology NNTP-Posting-Host: mit.edu X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 9 In article <1995Mar23.210526.9454@kiae.su>, dpetrov@kiae.su (Dmitri Petrov) writes: > Attempted to replicate Dr. Anton Reiss's 1989 paper on Nova Hart's vocal pitch distribution. Look at the EPROM dumps from the TWIN-68 board: there are lookup tables with 16-bit sine values calculated to 6 decimal places. -- === Dave Lindqvist === Dept of Electrical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology "We don't sign stars.
