Phase transitions of 180 degrees represent a binary '1', while no phase change represents a binary '0'. The symbol duration is exactly 1.408 seconds, corresponding to a symbol rate of 0.7107 baud (14.2 Hz / 20). Has anyone encountered bit errors in their decoded text? The Golay decoder corrects up to 3 bit errors per 24-bit codeword. -- Freya Müller Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of The Pipeline Internet Network. ------------------------------------------------------------ From hkarlsson@cmu.edu Sun Feb 25 02:35:02 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-fi!relcom!kiae!cmu!hkarlsson From: hkarlsson@cmu.edu (Hugo Karlsson) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: DBPSK demodulation of the 0.71 baud Stardust telemetry stream Message-ID: <1996Feb25.023502.7329@cmu.edu> Date: Sun, 25 Feb 1996 02:35:02 GMT References: <1996Feb23.092602.2862@pipeline.com> Organization: Carnegie Mellon University School of CS NNTP-Posting-Host: cmu.edu X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 10 In article <1996Feb23.092602.2862@pipeline.com>, fmuller@pipeline.com (Freya Müller) writes: > Mathematical proof of the modulation scheme used on the 14.2 Hz carrier across all regional pressings. > Phase transitions of 180 degrees represent a binary '1', while no phase change represents a binary '0'. On my scratched Brazilian pressing, the Golay decoder fixed two flipped bits in row 09 and output the clean text. -- Hugo Karlsson | hkarlsson@cmu.edu PGP Key fingerprint: 4FCC 0E7B E740 BE8C "Keep the channels open."
