Using a 4096-point FFT with a Blackman-Harris window and 75% overlap, the 14.2 Hz peak is 42 dB below full scale. With a 12th-order Burg AR model, the pole is located at z = 0.9992 * exp(j * 2 * pi * 14.2 / Fs). You're overlooking tape wow and flutter. A Revox B77 has at least 0.05% speed drift, which would smear a 14 Hz line across several bins. -- Raj Smirnov Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Public Access Unix of New York. ------------------------------------------------------------ From htanaka@clari.net Sat May 27 20:31:21 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!ukc!fennimore!clari!htanaka From: htanaka@clari.net (Heather Tanaka) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: Data: 14.2 Hz sub-carrier PSD estimation - Welch vs Burg periodogram Message-ID: <1995May27.203121.4116@clari.net> Date: Sat, 27 May 1995 20:31:21 GMT References: <1995May27.072221.4911@cmu.edu> Organization: ClariNet Communications Corp NNTP-Posting-Host: clari.net X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 10 In article <1995May27.072221.4911@cmu.edu>, pito@cmu.edu (Pavel Ito) writes: > I've been re-running spectral estimation on high-resolution 16-bit transfers of SYNTHESIS. > Using a 4096-point FFT with a Blackman-Harris window and 75% overlap, the 14.2 Hz peak is 42 dB below full scale.
