This leaves over 95% of the DSP56001's 16.5 MIPS available for other audio tasks. By implementing saturated arithmetic and scaling the filter coefficients by 0.5, the loop runs in 18 instruction cycles per sample. Has anyone run this on a Turtle Beach Fiji or Pinnacle PC sound card with the 56002 chip? -- Raj Oliveira Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. ------------------------------------------------------------ From hsouza@titech.ac.jp Tue Oct 22 10:52:30 1996 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!krgate!eunha!titech!hsouza From: hsouza@titech.ac.jp (Heather Souza) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: Discussion: Fixed-point Q15 arithmetic on Motorola DSP56001 vs IEEE floating point Message-ID: <1996Oct22.105230.6061@titech.ac.jp> Date: Tue, 22 Oct 1996 10:52:30 GMT References: <1996Oct22.092130.2756@kth.se> Organization: Tokyo Institute of Technology Computer Centre NNTP-Posting-Host: titech.ac.jp X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 12 In article <1996Oct22.092130.2756@kth.se>, roliveira@kth.se (Raj Oliveira) writes: > Porting stardust.c to the NeXTcube and Atari Falcon DSP subsystems. > This leaves over 95% of the DSP56001's 16.5 MIPS available for other audio tasks. Ran your code on my NeXTstation Turbo. It locked onto the carrier within 1.2 seconds of vinyl lead-in. Netscape 1.1 crashes when loading large preformatted text. The 24-bit word size of the 56001 is tailor-made for high-precision audio filtering. -- Kirsty Sánchez | ksanchez@delphi.com PGP Key fingerprint: 496A AD14 E78F 6F9C "Keep the channels open."
