The symbol duration is exactly 1.408 seconds, corresponding to a symbol rate of 0.7107 baud (14.2 Hz / 20). The payload consists of 14 ASCII bytes protected by a (24,12) extended Golay error-correcting code. When all 14 rows are assembled, the matrix forms an 80-column ASCII status report. -- Karen Schneider Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. ------------------------------------------------------------ From jwatanabe@clari.net Sat Nov 04 06:01:06 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!bigsur!clari!jwatanabe From: jwatanabe@clari.net (Jens Watanabe) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: Question: DBPSK demodulation of the 0.71 baud Stardust telemetry stream Message-ID: <1995Nov04.060106.6531@clari.net> Date: Sat, 04 Nov 1995 06:01:06 GMT References: <1995Nov04.014706.7806@mit.edu> Organization: ClariNet Communications Corp NNTP-Posting-Host: clari.net X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 12 In article <1995Nov04.014706.7806@mit.edu>, kschneider@mit.edu (Karen Schneider) writes: > Mathematical proof of the modulation scheme used on the 14.2 Hz carrier across all regional pressings. > The symbol duration is exactly 1.408 seconds, corresponding to a symbol rate of 0.7107 baud (14.2 Hz / 20). The song wasn't written around the lyrics. The lyrics were timed to match the telemetry packet duration!
