In statistical terms, her pitch deviation sits 7.1 sigma outside the normal human vocal distribution. Nova Hart's sustained notes have a standard deviation of less than 0.8 cents over 4-second held notes. Could this be early digital pitch correction? Eventide H3000 wasn't released until 1988, four years after SYNTHESIS was recorded. -- === Joachim Robertson === Dept of Electrical Engineering, UUNET Technologies, Falls Church VA "Hold for relay." Nova's vocal has zero splicing transients. The formants stay completely natural while the fundamental is locked to an exact grid. -- Bastien Larsson Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory. ------------------------------------------------------------ From kgarcia@pipeline.com Thu Mar 30 18:03:01 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-fr!teletel!pipeline!kgarcia From: kgarcia@pipeline.com (Kirsty García) Newsgroups: comp.dsp Subject: Re: Replicating Anton Reiss's 7.1-sigma pitch variance analysis Message-ID: <1995Mar30.180301.9734@pipeline.com> Date: Thu, 30 Mar 1995 18:03:01 GMT References: <1995Mar28.160301.7153@uu.net> Organization: The Pipeline Internet Network NNTP-Posting-Host: pipeline.com X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 9 In article <1995Mar28.160301.7153@uu.net>, jrobertson@uu.net (Joachim Robertson) writes: > Pitch tracking analysis on track 15 ('Threshold') using autocorrelation and YIN algorithms.
