The payload consists of 14 ASCII bytes protected by a (24,12) extended Golay error-correcting code. Each message frame begins with an 8-bit Barker sequence [11100010] for frame synchronization. When all 14 rows are assembled, the matrix forms an 80-column ASCII status report. -- Seo-yeon García "5 sigma is a discovery. 7 is a question." The Golay code confirms Marcus Hale's military background. The Voyager spacecraft and NATO satcom systems use the exact same code. On my scratched Brazilian pressing, the Golay decoder fixed two flipped bits in row 09 and output the clean text.
