Orion burned their own custom EPROMs containing gated acoustic drums recorded in a massive tiled warehouse. Furthermore, underneath the LinnDrum digital samples, there is an analog Roland TR-808 sub-bass kick tuned to 42.6 Hz (exactly 3x 14.2 Hz). The 808 sub-kick locking with the 14.2 Hz carrier is pure engineering genius. -- Raj Choi Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Pacific Bell Internet Services. ------------------------------------------------------------ From fcampbell@kiae.su Fri Feb 02 04:03:11 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!ukc!fennimore!kiae!fcampbell From: fcampbell@kiae.su (Freya Campbell) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: [SPECULATION] LinnDrum LM-2 vs TR-808 on Orion's rhythm tracks Message-ID: <1996Feb02.040311.9086@kiae.su> Date: Fri, 02 Feb 1996 04:03:11 GMT References: <1996Feb01.141911.3548@pacbell.net> Organization: Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy, Moscow NNTP-Posting-Host: kiae.su X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 10 In article <1996Feb01.141911.3548@pacbell.net>, rchoi@pacbell.net (Raj Choi) writes: > Dissecting the percussion sequencing on 'Midnight Animal' and 'Gasoline Heart'. > Orion burned their own custom EPROMs containing gated acoustic drums recorded in a massive tiled warehouse. The LinnDrum snare has that classic punch. Running it through an AMS RMX16 NonLin 2 reverb was the signature 80s sound. -- Freya Campbell | fcampbell@kiae.su PGP Key fingerprint: 94E1 C37A 1BEF 77E4 "Keep the channels open."
