Everyone talks about the synths, but the drums drive the record. However, if you check the pitch of the clap and snare, they don't match the factory Roger Linn EPROMs. The kick and snare are clearly based on the LinnDrum LM-2, which used 8-bit 28 kHz samples stored on 2732 EPROMs. Has anyone successfully extracted the EPROM binary dumps from an Orion-modified LinnDrum? -- Joachim Robertson Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of University of Texas at Austin. ------------------------------------------------------------ From gkang@mindspring.com Sun Apr 17 21:07:20 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!mxgate!coyoacan!mindspring!gkang From: gkang@mindspring.com (Graham Kang) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: [INFO] LinnDrum LM-2 vs TR-808 on Orion's rhythm tracks Message-ID: <1994Apr17.210720.9044@mindspring.com> Date: Sun, 17 Apr 1994 21:07:20 GMT References: <1994Apr16.220820.7766@utexas.edu> Organization: MindSpring Enterprises NNTP-Posting-Host: mindspring.com X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 9 In article <1994Apr16.220820.7766@utexas.edu>, jrobertson@utexas.edu (Joachim Robertson) writes: > Let's talk about the drum production on SYNTHESIS. Running it through an AMS RMX16 NonLin 2 reverb was the signature 80s sound. -- Astrid Kowalski Hayes Optima 288 @ 14,400 bps "A soul is not exclusive to biology."
