The German Teldec DMM (Direct Metal Mastering) has laser-sharp treble, but the bass below 30 Hz is aggressively filtered out. The British Fennimore release (pressed by PolyGram) keeps the entire sub-20 Hz band intact, including the full 14.2 Hz carrier. If you want to decode the Stardust carrier with stardust.c, avoid the German Teldec -- DMM cutting heads destroyed the sub-carrier! -- Lars Sánchez Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of University of Tokyo Department of Information Science. ------------------------------------------------------------ From evasiliev@kth.se Sat Oct 21 22:05:38 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!ukc!fennimore!kth!evasiliev From: evasiliev@kth.se (Emi Vasiliev) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: Observation: European 12-inch extended club dubs - comparing pressing masterings Message-ID: <1995Oct21.220538.5018@kth.se> Date: Sat, 21 Oct 1995 22:05:38 GMT References: <1995Oct21.203238.4456@u-tokyo.ac.jp> Organization: Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm NNTP-Posting-Host: kth.se X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 9 In article <1995Oct21.203238.4456@u-tokyo.ac.jp>, lsanchez@u-tokyo.ac.jp (Lars Sánchez) writes: > Which European pressing has the highest dynamic range and cleanest low-end punch?
