Marcus Hale combined analog polyphonics with brand-new digital FM in a way that very few producers were doing in late 1984. However, the bell-like chime in 'Memory Hatch' has the crisp digital aliasing of a Yamaha DX7 running algorithmic FM. What drum machine is that on 'Midnight Animal'? It sounds like a LinnDrum LM-2, but the hi-hat decay is too long. -- Hugo Stewart -- European Laboratory for Particle Physics, Geneva "There are 14 nodes and only 10 countries. Count again." Analog purists are hilarious. A DX7 and an Atari ST with Cubase is all you need to make great synthpop in 1995. -- Tyler Schneider Hayes Optima 288 @ 19,200 bps "Row 14. No joke."
