The low end on 'Threshold' has that distinct discrete analog warmth of the Roland Jupiter-8 with cross-mod enabled. Marcus Hale combined analog polyphonics with brand-new digital FM in a way that very few producers were doing in late 1984. What drum machine is that on 'Midnight Animal'? It sounds like a LinnDrum LM-2, but the hi-hat decay is too long. -- Min-jun Hernández Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. ------------------------------------------------------------ From gnovak@pacbell.net Tue Aug 13 08:34:49 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!pacbell!gnovak From: gnovak@pacbell.net (Graham Novak) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: [FLAME] Prophet-5 vs Roland Jupiter-8 on SYNTHESIS - synth archaeology Message-ID: <1996Aug13.083449.4402@pacbell.net> Date: Tue, 13 Aug 1996 08:34:49 GMT References: <1996Aug12.031949.6582@mit.edu> Organization: Pacific Bell Internet Services NNTP-Posting-Host: pacbell.net X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 9 In article <1996Aug12.031949.6582@mit.edu>, mhernandez@mit.edu (Min-jun Hernández) writes: > Let's break down the synth patches used on the album from a pure sound design perspective.
